Work with Backups
Authorization Box offers the possibility to make a backup of your processed data. You can make an export of the Authorization Box. In addition, it is possible to import an exported file again. If you click on ‘Backups’ in the menu under ‘Setup’, you will be given the option to make an export or import of the software device.
Export
The export can be used as a backup or to create a new database. For example when you already are using a test Environment you can export what you need and import this in the production Environment. To enter the export screen open Setup > Backups > Export.
The following data can be included in the export:
- Organization Structure: Contains linked roles to functions in Dynamics.
- Permission Set Groups: Groups that contain different permission sets.
- Company Groups: Groups that contain different company’s in Dynamics.
- Monitoring: Provides insight into critical powers and conflicting permissions.
- Synchronization Settings: Settings for table synchronization in Authorization Box.
- Authorization Requests: Overview of completed authorization requests.
To make an export, use the following steps:
- In the Export functionality you can make a selection of what you want to export.
- When you click on Export, an Excel file is generated.- By clicking on ‘Save as’ you can save the Excel file in your own/personal environment.
An generated Excel file with all checked options can be seen in the example below:
Depending on the number of options that you have checked, the number of tabs is displayed in the Excel file.
Import
The import functionality can be used for a restore or to do a whole new setup in a database. To enter the import screen open Setup > Backups > Import. Now the backup can be restored.
To make an import, use the following steps:
- Click in the fieldSelect Import File to Browse. Select the file you want to import. After this you can select the file you want to import.
- If the options you want are checked, press Import to retrieve the file.
When the import is complete you will see the green message below, with all the sheets from Excel that have been imported into your Authorization Box. Data that was still in Authorization Box but not in the backup before the import, is no longer available now.
